How to Stop Overthinking – Gate 63 Energy for Business/Career

Self-doubt – my old friend. This is one I know like the back of my hand. I had no idea why until I discovered Human Design. It was only then, when I dug a little deeper, that I found that I had Gate 63 as my Conscious (Personality) Earth.

Translation: this is an important part of my Design, helping to keep me grounded and fully express my purpose.

Right now, the Sun is transiting Gate 63 in the Head centre. What this means is that whether or not you have this little number coloured in on your chart (defined) – look up your own Human Design chart here – you will be experiencing the qualities of this gate. We all are- up until and including 7th March here in Australia.

Let me share with you what it looks like to be in the Shadow or Wisdom of this gate, and then some practical tips to use it to your advantage (read on!)

  • Second-guessing my offers
  • Not feeling good enough in almost everything
  • Procrastinating in case I didn’t get ‘it’ right- it being anything in business, but also in friendships, relationships and career
  • Overwhelm
  • Procrastination
  • Self-sabotage to feel more certainty in the face of a stack of uncertainty (entrepreneurship is literally uncertainty, on speed)
  • Imposter syndrome
  • Lack of self-trust

You get the picture.

I mean, it was (and still can be) a lot, but I’m way better at navigating it now.

Have you been experiencing one of the above this week? The self-doubt, second-guessing yourself or your plans, getting stuck up in your head and over-analysing, or something else?

Maybe you’ve noticed this in clients or prospective clients as well:

  • Overthinking decisions and not trusting their own process
  • Going round and round in circles, questioning everything without moving forward
  • Trying to be more certain but actually they’re resistant to leaning into the uncertainty of maybe working with you or putting a new, aligned offer out or taking up an epic opportunity
  • They’re bringing a sense of doubt to the team instead of focusing on empowering questions that will bring clarity; or a healthy skepticism that can help to improve and hone processes, systems or offers
  • They’re conveying doubt to their own clients which leads to low sales, uneasiness and questioning

Or maybe you’ve noticed that you’ve been asking yourself the questions that are giving you insights into iterating, tweaking and improving what you’ve been working on. Maybe you’re seeing the patterns play out and can use these to your advantage. Perhaps you’re hearing that nagging self-doubt but not letting it steer the ship. All of this is Gate 63 energy.

It can be so helpful to just get a heads up on what we’re all feeling right now. It helps to let you know that it’s not just you; it’s the reason why you’re experiencing what you are (in other words, you can’t make this stuff up!) and to gain an insight into how to manage it either for yourself or to help those around you (if that’s your role and they want your help).

Practical Ways to Set Boundaries Around Self-Doubt:

1. Question the Doubt Instead of assuming your doubt is valid, challenge it. Ask yourself:

    • Is this doubt helping me improve, or is it just keeping me stuck?
    • What evidence do I have that I’m not capable?
    • If I trusted myself fully, what decision would I make?

    2. Trust Your Authority In Human Design, your mind is never your decision-making authority. Whether your authority is sacral, emotional, splenic, or something else, the best decisions for you come from your body, not from endless mental analysis. Start experimenting with making decisions based on your authority rather than your doubts.

    3. Use Questions & Healthy Scepticism: These can be valuable when used strategically. If you’re launching a new service, instead of letting self-doubt stop you, use effective questions and a healthy dose of scepticism to refine your offer. Test it with a small group, gather feedback, and iterate. The same applies in your career: if you’re unsure about going for a promotion, ask yourself what skills or experience would make you feel more confident and take small steps towards building them.

    4. Journal to Gain Clarity Writing down your doubts and working through them can help shift them from overwhelming thoughts to manageable insights. Try these prompts:

    • What’s a way to improve this (service, offer, project)?
    • Where am I caught up in self-analysis instead of focusing outwards on others?
    • If I didn’t doubt myself, what would I do next?
    • What is my Inner Authority trying to tell me?

      5. Set a Time Limit on Overthinking If you notice yourself spiralling in doubt, set a time limit. Give yourself 24 hours (or even just an hour) to process, reflect, and make a decision. After that, take action, even if it’s a small step.

If you’d like to learn what your Human Design means in a practical, empowering way so that you can move from the shadow expression and into the wisdom, showing up as the most aligned, abundant and energised version of you, book a 1:1 Human Design session and let’s do it.
